TCRC is organising its third international conference on the 5-6 Feb. 2022. The First TCRC conference was held in February 2018, the second in February 2020. Both were held at IIC Annexe in Delhi. The next conference is planned to be held at Banaras. Banaras is a city famous for its silk brocades thus the theme of the conference is “’Woven textiles, Brocaded or intricately woven‘. TCRC aims to bring together on a common platform, textile and clothing researchers, educators, practitioners, conservators and art historians, to reflect upon and discuss their research With its aim to promote and foster good quality research, TCRC invites original research on the above topic in the areas of:

  1. Historic studies based on origin, technique, culture.
  2. Contemporary revival studies
  3. Conservational studies
  4. Craft practices
  5. Technological interventions

TCRC seeks proposals for 15 minute- presentation based on above topics from scholars which may include topics related to museum collections, personal collections, history, anthropology, technology, techniques, skill, home science, art history and archaeology. Proposals are invited from researchers, scholars, artists, conservators, museum curators and other professionals related to this field. We invite proposals from craft-based industry professionals too.

Abstracts should be in English & no more than 500 words, which will exclude title and author name, contact information (name, mailing address, email & telephone). Submission deadline is Dec 22, 2021. Important dates

  • Deadline for abstract submission: Dec 22, 2021
  • Selection and intimation of accepted papers and posters: Dec 30, 2021
  • Deadline for submission of final papers and posters for selected abstracts: January 15, 2022.
  • Registration for seminar begins January 15, 2022.
  • Seminar: February 5-6, 2022.

The Venue for the seminar will be Benaras, India. The fees for attending the seminar:

  • Registration fee for TCRC members: Rs 1000/-
  • Registration fee for non-TCRC members: Rs 2500/-
  • Registration fee for student –TCRC members: Rs 500/-
  • Registration fee for non-student –TCRC members: 1000/-

TCRC will select papers by the policy of peer-review. All work should be original and not previously published. TCRC intends to publish the papers presented at the seminar in its annual seminar publication.

It may be noted that the cost of travel and stay will have to be borne by the presenters and attendees. The conference will include visits to weavers, museums and zari makers, if time permits.
